During the first quarter of 2022, the top News and Magazines apps on Android in Latin America demonstrated varied performance in terms of downloads and active users. Here's a closer look at the trends for the top 5 apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.

NewsBreak: Local News & Alerts saw a significant decline in weekly downloads, starting from around 260K at the end of December 2021 and dropping to approximately 82K by early March 2022. Despite this, weekly active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 1.9M and 2M throughout the quarter.

Opera News: breaking & local experienced a notable increase in weekly downloads, starting from about 3.7K in late December 2021 and peaking at over 242K by the end of February 2022. The app also saw a substantial rise in weekly active users, growing from around 47K to over 695K during the same period.

G1 Portal de Notícias da Globo had a more stable performance. Weekly downloads fluctuated, starting at around 42K in late December 2021, peaking at 102K in mid-February, and then declining to about 25K by the end of March 2022. Weekly active users showed a slight upward trend, reaching a high of approximately 957K in February.
